They came to Tulum to celebrate one of the most significant chapters of their lives: their first baby, arriving in just a few months. Briana was around five months along, that beautiful in-between stage where the bump is undeniably there and the whole thing starts to feel very, very real.

The Session

We started inside, beneath the lobby's dramatic architecture. The warm wood textures, the interplay of shadow and filtered light, the sculptural design details: it was the perfect opening act. Briana wore a long, flowing dress in soft light camel, the kind of fabric that moves beautifully and photographs even better. Brian kept it perfectly complementary: white trousers, a light brown linen shirt, relaxed summer dressing that felt completely at home in the Tulum heat. They hadn't planned to match the setting, but they absolutely did. Earth tones against warm wood, effortless and editorial at once.

What I love about starting indoors at a hotel like Conrad is that you get that luxury architectural backdrop before the sun and the wind and the ocean take over. The lobby gave us structure. It gave us intimacy. And it gave us some of the most quietly beautiful frames of the day.

Then came the pool. There's something about water in Tulum, the way it reflects, the way it softens, and the poolside at Conrad gave us a moment of stillness in the afternoon. Briana resting her hands on her belly, Brian close. No words needed.

And then, the beach.

Late afternoon light on the Caribbean is something you never get tired of, especially in Tulum, where the water shifts from jade to deep blue and the sky feels enormous. We finished the session there, barefoot in the sand, the two of them completely lost in each other. That's the goal of lifestyle photography: to disappear so completely that what remains is just them. Real, unguarded, and incredibly moving.

The Film Touch

One detail I love about this session: alongside the digital work, I also shot a segment on a vintage video camera from the 90s. That warm, grainy, slightly imperfect footage is something no digital filter can truly replicate. It has texture, nostalgia, a feeling. Pairing it with clean modern digital photography creates a layered story: the crispness of now, and the warmth of memory. For a maternity session, that contrast felt especially right.
